Ancestral link To Blore Heath

Over the last few years Kevin has been researching our family tree and discovered an intriguing link to his Brass Band work " Blore Heath 1459.

One of his grandparents was Alice Egerton and it was through this line that this fact has come to light.

Sixteen generations back from Alice was John Egerton (Knight) who lived between 1404 and 1459. John Egerton died in battle on the 23rd September 1459 on the battle field at Blore Heath.

The battle at Blore Heath was one of the first battles of the "War of the Roses".

Who would have thought that when Kevin went into Audley library to research a local theme for the band's commission in conjunction with the National Lottery that it would take this interesting twist.
